Inexpenisve St. Patricks Day Teacher Gift Idea

I am always trying to come up with inexpensive ways to show our teachers how much we appreciate them. I try to do a little something each time a holiday rolls around. St. Patrick's Day is going to be here before we know it so we want to tell our teachers how "lucky" we are to have them!

I was in Bath and Body Works this past weekend and they have little St. Patty's Day hand sanitizers for $1. I bought one for each teacher (B&BW has tons of coupons out there that you can use with to make your purchase even sweeter!).

I think I came up with a cute little "thank you phrase" to go along with the sanitizer: "We are so lucky that you are "handy" at teaching!" For the helpers in the class, I wrote, "We are so lucky that you are so 'handy' at helping us!"

There were packages of these shamrocks on the $1 bin at Target. I just added some glue and put the "tag" on the shamrock.

 

I hole punched the shamrock and then I took the bottle of sanitizer and laid it on the back of the shamrock. I then took packaging tape and put it over the bottle and then to the shamrock so it would stay. I put a green ribbon in the hole so that we could hang them from the teachers door handles to their rooms.


The total cost is maybe $1.10 for each teacher! Cheap, but yet, it is a nice little gesture to say thanks on St. Patty's Day!

Reuse Bath and Body Works Shipping Box as Cute Gift Box

I am loving the large checkered/gingham pattern on the Bath and Body Works store bags. But, when I got a box from them in the mail the other day (I made an order online) I was happily surprised! I opened the plain brown box to find that the inside of the box was the same pattern in red!! I had to use this for a gift box. I cut one side of the box and then taped it back together (inside out, so the gingham was now the outside of the box) and then I put the entire box together. I put the gift inside, taped it up and added some ribbon! The box is so cute all on it's own - no wrapping paper! Great way to reuse the box to and save on wrapping paper!

Cut one side of the box so it is flat like this and then you can easily put it back together so the pattern is on the outside.

I taped this edge that I cut, back together and then just put the box together.

Added some ribbon and viola!

Bucket of Get Well Wishes

A friend of mine was having surgery, so I thought I would put a little gift together for her while she recovered. 

This is one of those empty paint cans that I decided to "jazz" up for this gift.

I cut scrapbook paper to fit the can.

I added a matching scrapbook paper to the top of the lid as well.

I made a little "tag". It says, "A Bucket of Get Well Wishes"

I added yellow ribbon to the top and bottom edge of the can. I also added felt flowers (with button middles) to the outside of the can.


Here are some of the contents of the can. 

The tag to this little nut mixture says, "breakfast in bed".

This is the Cashmere Glow lotion from Bath & Body Works so my tag read, "You will be 'glowing' again in no time".

A can of beer - "Here's to a speedy recovery. Cheers!"

A small bottle of antibacterial hand soap - "Keep the germs at bay without having to leave the bed."

Gum - "When your throat gets dry"

Cluster candy - "Indulge in some quiet time"

More chocolate - "Take 'pleasure' in a little down time"

Green tea - "Green tea to help flush your blues away"

Chapstick - "Because your lips always feel dry after surgery"

Small candle - "Peace and relaxation"

I also tied a bundle of magazines up and the tag read, "Catch up on some reading"

I just wanted this "bucket" to be a can of sunshine to brighten my friend's day after surgery. Most of these things you may have laying around your house. You can come up with sayings for "tags" for almost anything! I would love to hear what you come up with! 

Fun May Day Basket or Gift for Any Occassion

I painted this wooden tool box a fun green color and then stenciled the letters on the front. I wrapped the handle with some yarn I had.

I filled it with some May Day goodies for my sister and her family (her Scrabble coasters that I blogged about before fit too!). It was a cheap, easy and homemade take on a May Day basket! I wish I had more tool boxes to use for more gift giving.

Scrabble Coasters - Great Gifts for Any Occassion

I have seen the Scrabble coasters on Pinterest and I thought it would be a great gift for someone for a wedding. I found that I liked the size better of a 5x5 tile coaster. I had just seen them with 4 letter words. So, I came up with some "wedding" words and made a set of six for a friend of mine who is getting married. I had my husband cut small squares out of thin board to glue the tiles on. I painted the backs of them black.

The words I used for the wedding tiles were:

• their names, first, last, their kids' names
• date and year of the wedding, bride, groom, loved
• share, kiss, talk, relax, often
• boy, meets, girl, the, end
• happy, cozy, ours, heart, home
• toast, laugh, dance, smile, dream

(for the words that weren't five letters, I just used a blank one or turned a letter tile over).

I loved the way these turned out that I made a set for my sister because they just moved into their new house.

The words I used for the new house were:

•  party, times, games, food, drink
• paint, blood, sweat, tears, house (they built a lot of their house themselves so that is where these words came from)
• plant, grow, weeds, trees, path
• home, cozy, quiet, place, woods
• relax, enjoy, toast, dream, laugh
• I then used their last name, zip code, town they live in and state

I will be making these again. I think they are a great handmade gift that can be personalized for any occasion! Happy Tiling!

Creative and Cute Valentine's Gift!

This would make a perfect Valentine's gift for anyone (grandparents, teachers, moms and dads, aunts and uncles, etc). I took pictures of siblings when they were giving each other a kiss and in the other picture, they were hugging each other. I put the pictures on the inside walls of a glass jar so you could see each picture. Then, I filled the jar with Hershey's Hugs and Kisses. On the top of the jar, I made a tag that said, "Kisses and Hugs to You!" So Cute!!!
